Via Modeling
Coupled Via Example
Sonnet calculates electromagnetic effects of arbitrarily placed vias embedded in planar dielectric.
Shown here is the current density of a pair of coupled vias. The via on the right is fed with a microstrip line. The current distribution shows that the right via couples to the left via. Red is high current; blue is low current.
One via definition can create vias that stop at different levels
V15 extends the capabilty of vias and the via technogy layers. All the vias going down for one level can individually auto sense metal and stop on the level where the via touchs metal. This allows one via tech layer to hold and organize all the vias orginiating from the same level. This is useful for projects such as RFIC's with MIMcaps.
