Gerber Multi-Layer Import

Gerber Translator

When you select File => Import => Gerber (Multi-Layer) from the project editor menu, the following occurs:

  1. The Import Control dialog box appears which allows you to assign the project to which you wish to import the Gerber files.

  2. Clicking on the Next button in the Import Control dialog box, opens the Netex-G window which allows you to select the files you wish to import and place them in the correct order for import. You may also specify drill files using this window and select only part of the circuit to import.  Once the setup is complete, the files are imported. A job file is created which saves your setup for subsequent translations. When the setup is complete, you click on the Import button to translate the Gerber files.

  3. The Netex-G progress window appears and displays the progress of the translation process. Once the translation is complete, the Import Options dialog box is opened so that you may select translation options.

  4. When you close the Import Options dialog box, the Import Status dialog box appears. Click on the Import button to import the Gerber files into the Sonnet project. When you close the Import Status dialog box, the translated layers appear in your project editor window.

Once the Gerber files has been imported, you normally need to perform some minor adjustments using the project editor.
