Import Control dialog box

GDSII Translator & DXF Translator & Gerber Translator

The Import Control dialog box appears once you have selected a GDSII file to import, a DXF file to import or Gerber file(s) to import. This dialog box allows you to select the project to which you wish to import the file.

Import to New Project: Select this radio button if you wish to import your file to a new Sonnet project. Enter the name of the new project file to which you wish to import the file in the New Project Name text entry box. If you wish to use an existing project's settings, click on the Use a project as a template check box and enter the name of the template project in the text entry box or click on the browse button to select a template file.

The translated file is saved to the new project when the translation process is complete.

Import to Present Project Using it as a Template: Select this radio button if you wish to import your file into the project that is presently open and active in the project editor.

The translated file is imported into the project. Any existing objects are replaced by the file being imported, unless the Keep existing polygons in template checkbox is selected (see below), but the other project settings are retained. Essentially, you are using the present project as a template for the import.

The translated file is saved in the present project when the translation is complete.

Copy existing polygons from template:  Select this checkbox if you want the geometry elements from the template to be added into your translated project.  Any existing polygons in the present project or the template are not deleted when the file is imported; objects in the imported file are added to the existing polygons. This checkbox only appears when the Import to a new project radio button is selected and is only enabled if the Import to Present Project Using it as a Template checkbox is selected.

Keep existing polygons in template:  This checkbox only appears when the Import to present project using it as a template radio button is selected. Select this checkbox if you wish to add the existing geometry to the imported geometry. Any existing polygons in the present project are not deleted when the file is imported; objects in the imported file are added to the existing polygons.

Make Technology Layers: Select this checkbox if you wish to create Technology Layers in the resulting project. During a GDSII import, GDSII data streams and data types are used to create Technology Layers based on the settings in the GDSII Layer Mapping dialog box. During a DXF import, DXF layers are used to create Technology Layers based on settings in the DXF Layer Mapping dialog box. During a Gerber import, Gerber files are used to create Technology Layers based on settings in the Gerber Layer Mapping dialog box or Netex-G window.

Next: Click on the Next button to continue the import process.
