You select Insert - Component - User Model in order to add a component to your geometry that is a model from a library purchased from another vendor, or developed in house. An assistant appears on your display which helps you set up your component. This dialog box is also opened when you select the command Object - Component Properties
Using Variables in this dialog box
For the User Model component type, the analysis engine, em, first performs an electromagnetic analysis on the geometry, and then uses circuit theory to connect the model to the geometry. This allows you to subsequently change the model used by your component without performing the electromagnetic analysis another time on your geometry.
Modelithics models are presently the only supported vendor, although it is possible to create custom models. If you are interested in doing so, please contact your Sonnet Software representative for details. Use of Modelithics models requires a license purchased from Modelithics, Inc in addition to your Sonnet license.
User Model: You must click on the Browse button to open the Model Browser dialog box which allows you to browse through the model library and choose a model. Once you have selected a model, the model name is displayed in this dialog box. The model library opened by this command is defined by the path entered using the Admin - Third Party Interfaces command in the Sonnet session window, then clicking on "User Model" in the sidebar menu.
Parameters: Click on this button to open the Model Parameters dialog box which allows you to define the values of any parameters defined in the model. It is possible to use variables in your main project to define parameters in your model.
Note that you may set reference planes and terminal widths for the component terminals by selecting the Component ports and selecting Object - Port Properties.
For a detailed discussion of Components, please refer to the Components chapter in the Sonnet User's Guide.
