The New Project page of the Edit Preferences dialog box of the project editor tab allows you to change the behavior of Sonnet when you create a new geometry project. When you create a new geometry project (File - New Geometry) you may choose to create a blank project, use a single geometry project template, or open a folder of templates from which you may choose a template file. You may use a Sonnet project file as a template file. This is useful if you always wish to start with a particular set of materials, technology layers, frequency sweeps, units, or any other set of properties which you commonly use.
Use blank project: Selecting this radio button opens a default blank project when you create a new geometry project. This is the default setting.
Always Use This Template: Selecting this radio button uses the template file specified below as the basis for all new geometry files. You should enter the template file name or use the browse button to select the desired template.
Select from template folder: If this radio button is selected, Sonnet will open a browse window whenever you create a new geometry project. You may then select from any template file in the specified folder. This is useful if you wish to have multiple templates from which to choose.
Override units from blank project and templates: If you wish to use units which are different from the default units or the units specified in a template file, you may check this box. Then, you may click the Edit button to change the units, when you create a new geometry project.
You may restore the Sonnet default templates and template settings by clicking the Restore factory defaults button at the bottom of the New Graph page under Edit Preferences.
