When you select Insert - Add Data Element from the project editor main menu, a Browse window appears on your display which allows you to select the data file you wish to use in your network. Once you select a data file, the Add/Edit Element dialog box appears on your display, configured to input a data file. This dialog box is also opened if you double-click on a data element entry in the netlist so that you may edit the entry.
File: This text entry box displays the data file being used for the data element. If you are adding a data element, the data file you selected in the Browse window that appeared after you selected the Add Data Element command is entered here. If you wish to change the data file, you may directly edit the name or click on the Browse button to the right to open a browse window which allows you to select a data file. This allows you to change the data file being used.
You may input Touchstone (.snp) and Touchstone V2 (.ts) formatted data files, N-Coupled Line (RLGC Data) (.dat) files and MDIF (.mdf) files. These files can be created using Sonnet analysis data (see Output Files, in the project editor or Output - S,Y,Z-Parameter File, and Output - N-Coupled Line Model File in the response viewer) or you may use data files of these formats produced outside of Sonnet .
Node Assignment: There is a text entry box for each Port in the circuit and one more for the ground reference (REF). Enter the node in the netlist to which you wish the port to correspond in the appropriate text entry box. REF may be connected to GND or to a node in the network.
Element Parameters: There are no element parameters which need to be input for a data file.
When the project element is added to your network, its entry is listed as "SnP" where n is the number of ports.
