If you have an existing circuit that was created without using Technology Layers, such as a project from an earlier release, but would like to add them, it is possible to automatically create Technology Layers based on the contents of your circuit. In order to do so, open the Tech Layers page of the Circuit Settings dialog box (Circuit - Settings) and click on the Auto Create button. The Technology Layers which are created use default names created by the software which you will more than likely wish to edit afterwards.
Technology Layers are created in the following manner: one or more Metal Technology Layers are created for every level which contains metal polygons. All metal polygons of the same metal type are associated with the same Technology Layer. If there is more than one metal type in use on a level, then a Metal Technology Layer is created for each Metal Type and polygons are associated with the Technology Layer which is using the same metal type. Unique names are automatically created for each Technology Layer that you may wish to change. Via and Brick Technology Layers are created in a similar manner.
When a given level contains polygons with the same material but different meshing properties, a single Technology Layer is created with meshing properties corresponding to the majority of the polygons. Polygons with the Tech Layer's meshing properties are set to inherit the meshing properties of the Tech Layer, but polygons with different meshing properties will be set to Local, to preserve the meshing properties of those polygons.
Note that executing this command in a project that already contains Technology Layers will delete the existing Technology Layers and replace them. In this case, a warning that indicates that all existing tech layers will be deleted is issued before executing the command.
