This dialog box is opened when you click on the Load Keysight button in the Substrate File Setup dialog box or when you select the command Tools - Convert Tech Process Files - Keysight Process File from the main window of the Cadence Virtuoso Interface. This dialog box allows you to input a Keysight process file and translate it into a Sonnet .matl file which can be used in the Cadence Virtuoso Interface. The controls are detailed below.
Keysight File Format: This section of the dialog box allows you to specify the Keysight process file you wish to translate into a .matl file. You have three choices for format: .slm, .tch and .ltd. Click on the radio button for the desired format. Note that the content of the Conversion Settings section of the dialog box changes depending on the format selected.
Momentum "x" File: Enter the desired Keysight process file in this text entry box. You may click on the browse button to open a browse window which allows you to select the desired file or you may directly edit this text entry box. The extension of the Keysight process file depends on the choice of Keysight File Format.
Thick Metal Expansion: This checkbox appears for both the .slm and .ltd formats, but is always selected for .ltd files and may not be changed. When thick metal is modeled in Momentum, an extra dielectric is put into the stackup to generate the new dielectric into which the thick metal will extend. The height of this new dielectric is the same height as the thickness of the metal. This option is selected by default so that when the translation is performed, Sonnet behaves in the same manner as Momentum and adds an extra dielectric layer to the Sonnet project. If this option is cleared, then Sonnet does not add this extra layer during the translation.
Planar Metal Modeled as: This setting only appears if the Keysight format is .tch. This field determines how the metal used for metal polygons is modeled in the Sonnet analysis. You may select Thin or Thick. For more information about Sonnet’s metal types, please refer to the Planar Metal Editor dialog box. The “Thin” setting uses the Normal metal model.
Thick metals do not affect the dielectric thickness definitions. Sonnet thick metal models will always penetrate the dielectric above so that no extra space between metal levels is required.
This section of the dialog box defines the .matl file which is created when you translate the Keysight process file.
Sonnet .matl File: Specify the name of the .matl file to which you wish to save the translated Keysight process file. There is a browse button available above the entry field which will open a browse window and allow you to select the desired file or you may directly enter the path and filename of the file by editing within the text entry box.
