Resistance1 is the resistance (in ohms) of a one-port or two-port circuit assuming a series RL. Any parasitics to ground at the selected port are included in the resistance calculation. For example, a one-port circuit might contain an extra parasitic, represented by ''Y'' in the following diagram:

where Leq and Req contain the effect of Y. In this case, the resistance calculation gives the equivalent resistance, Req.

This equation is not valid for three or more ports. If the circuit is a two-port, the resistance is computed based on shorting the other port to ground as shown below:
