Sonnet Suites - V12 EDA Design Flow Integration
Working seamlessly within leading EDA Design Flow Frameworks
Sonnet stands alone as an industry-leading high frequency EM analysis software that integrates tightly with leading EDA design flow frameworks in addition to functioning as a standalone high frequency planar EM software.
In the Sonnet Suites Release 12, several changes and enhancements have been made to our interfaces to these popular design frameworks.
Cadence Virtuoso Platform Integration Enhancements
Version 12 enhancements to our Cadence Virtuoso platform integration include:
- Ability to capture layout to a SonnetEM view in multiple ways:
- Copy all objects in layout cell view to SonnetEM view
- Copy selected objects in layout cell view to SonnetEM view
- Crop a manual selection region of the layout cell view for copy to SonnetEM view
- Crop the layout cell view at current zoom for copy to SonnetEM view
-
New fields have been added to the Sonnet interface application to apply calls to load and execute user-defined SKILL functions either before or after the SonnetEM view is created. These functions can be used to clean up geometry either before or after the SonnetEM view geometry is flattened, making possible automated cleanup actions such as microvia merges, creating unions of multiple polygons, or operating on designated metal or layer types.
- All Sonnet interface defaults, including Q factor accuracy setting, Sonnet cell size, Sonnet analysis box wall margins, add symbol reference pin, etc. can be pre-set using Cadence environment variables through the sonnet.cdsenv file. This can be very useful for deploying the interface with correct default settings for a workgroup team.
-
A single symbol is created for both S-parameter and Sonnet Broadband Spice extracted models, for enhanced usability and to alleviate LVS problems for components with an extra (reference) pin
- Electrical model symbols for S-parameter and broadband spice models may be defined to to have a reference pin added to the symbol, or to be grounded internally without an explicit reference pin
- New option to create lossless extension transmission lines to the box wall margins; saves memory over using the metaldefinition to which the port is connected in the SonnetEM view
- Use of Remote EM Processing clients is now complemented by disconnect/reconnect functionality, so that in-progress Remote EM analysis jobs survive temporary network failures; applies to single Remote EM clients and emClusterLSF/SonnetCluster clients
Agilent ADS Framework Integration Enhancements
Version 12 enhancements to our integration to the Agilent ADS Suite include:
- A "check for available license" feature so you can be sure there is an available interface license before you start a simulation or a Sonnet project translation
- New option to create lossless extension transmission lines to the box wall margins; saves memory over using the metal definition to which the port is connected in the ADS layout
- Use of Remote EM Processing clients is now complemented by disconnect/reconnect functionality, so that in-progress Remote EM analysis jobs survive temporary network failures; applies to single Remote EM clients and emClusterLSF/SonnetCluster clients
AWR Microwave Office Integration Enhancements
Version 12 enhancements to our integration to the AWR EMSocket include:
- Internal ports at the ends of interior transmission lines in AWR layouts are automatically mapped to independent Sonnet Co-Calibrated Ports
- Support for mapping anisotropic materials between AWR and Sonnet
- Support for mapping non-default dielectric magnetic properties between AWR and Sonnet
- Automatic EM Extraction in AWR (using Sonnet as the target EM simulator) will map interior ports created in the layout to Sonnet Co-Calibrated Ports for superior calibration accuracy
- Use of Remote EM Processing clients is now complemented by disconnect/reconnect functionality, so that in-progress Remote EM analysis jobs survive temporary network failures; applies to single Remote EM clients and emClusterLSF/SonnetCluster clients
